Jonathan H. Owen is the Director of Operations Research at GM Research and Development where he leads strategic initiatives for Revenue Growth and oversees Operations Research activities in the areas of revenue management, portfolio planning and vehicle content optimization, customer consideration and marketing effectiveness, and dealer effectiveness. He is responsible for creating and executing a vision to leverage advanced analytics in these areas to improve bottom-line results through technology development and business implementation. Since joining GM in 1999, his research has focused primarily on developing new modeling systems, algorithms, and software tools for the analysis and improvement of GM's manufacturing systems and processes. In this role, Jon has served as the program leader since 2001 for the current generation of throughput analysis tools and a new software delivery architecture. His other research interests include applied integer programming, combinatorial optimization, and visualization of network manipulations. He is co-developer of GIDEN, a graphical software environment for presenting and studying network flow and combinatorial optimization problems and algorithms. Jon holds Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences from Northwestern University. He also has a B.S. in Mathematical Sciences from the University of North Carolina. His contributions at GM have been internally recognized with several individual and team awards for technical accomplishment.
