Dockworkers pause strike after Biden administrationā€™s appeal to patriotism hits the mark

Aided by intense pressure from senior Biden administration officials, the shipping companies, represented by the U.S. Maritime Alliance, significantly increased the raise they were offering the dockworkers to 62% from their previous offer of a 50% boost in pay. The International Longshoremenā€™s Association, the dockworkersā€™ union, was seeking a 77% raise, but it accepted the new offer, which will be phased in over six years.

AI Streamlines Crowdsourcing of Ideas, Study Finds

New research has found a way to leverage the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to more efficiently screen out bad ideas to focus on only good ideas in the crowdsourcing process within ideation. More specifically, the research has arrived at a simple model for screening out ideas that experts might consider "bad." Importantly, managers can adjust their model to determine how many bad ideas to screen out, without losing good ones. The research also found a single new predictor that screens out atypical ideas and preserves more inclusive and rich ideas.
