Overseeing a meeting with thousands of people is a daunting task, writes Sheldon H. Jacobson, who shares some lessons he learned along the way.
BALTIMORE, MD, April 1, 2025 – Can we really trust AI to make better decisions than humans? A new study says … not always. Researchers have discovered that OpenAI’s ChatGPT, one of the most advanced and popular AI models, makes the same kinds of decision-making mistakes as humans in some situations – showing biases like overconfidence of hot-hand (gambler’s) fallacy – yet acting inhuman in others (e.g., not suffering from base-rate neglect or sunk cost fallacies).

Thousands of smartphones and smart devices are talking to, sending and downloading vast amounts of data, video, audio, words, numbers, images, you name it. Everything from the latest movie on Netflix to someone’s radiology results from a cancer screening.

BALTIMORE, MD, April 12, 2023 – It looks like the “best practice” of removing gendered language from job listings may simply have been a “best guess” by managers seeking to increase diversity of applicant pools for their organizations. New research in the INFORMS journal Management Science finds that tweaking the language of job postings to make them more gender-neutral has negligible practical effects on men’s and women’s likelihood of applying for jobs.
BALTIMORE, MD, April 11, 2023 – It’s commonly assumed that the supply-and-demand economics of the consumer marketplace dictates price. If you are one of few retailers that sells a product consumers want, you can charge more. Or, if supplies of that product are more scarce, again, prices will likely be higher.
